southernmedicine: (think about it)

A friend was saying last night how she thinks it's interesting that there isn't more overlap between fic writers and rpers, given that rp is essentially just taking turns writing fic, round-robin style. I see her point and I've got to agree, because after all, if you can do one, you can surely do the other, right? Only to a certain degree, though.

I do find rp easier, because I have a partner to bounce off of when ideas are thin on the ground, and I delight in the interaction and the bonding experience involved in creating something with another person. On the other hand, if you have a vision, solo writing is the only real way to see that through to your complete satisfaction without somebody else throwing a wrench in the works. You also get to work at your own pace, and heavily edit to your heart's content.

I've been thinking about the project I mentioned the other day, and I really think that if I can sit down and sort myself out, I'd like to try and host it. I've got a few ideas in the pipeline for my own selections.

It's so sad to me to keep finding comms that look good, only to notice that they haven't been active for months, or for years. I have had some pretty decent success in finding people to subscribe to (and who have mutually subscribed to me, hello!) though, and I'm immensely grateful for that. Now to get over myself enough to actually initiate conversation with people.

I'm still using my original name on Tumblr, too, and I've still got my original layout on Dreamwidth, though I recently changed the color scheme from red to green. Because it was time for a change, but not too much of a change. :D
