Happy Halloweeeeeeen

It's my favorite day of my favorite month, and I'm lucky enough to have it off work.

I'm going to run to the store when I get up, to pick up a few things, then I'm going to grab myself something for lunch. I'll splurge on my favorite day of the year, I will. Then when I come home, I'm going to spend the day watching spoopy things until it gets dark enough for trick or treaters, not that I expect all that many kids on a Thursday night.

I've already started my Midnight Mass re-watch, plus the new episode of Agatha All Along awaits. I also always watch Trick r' Treat on Halloween night, post-trick or treater hours as the holiday winds down.

I fully expect to be ill by the end of the night, on account of all the junk I'm going to wolf down.

I also have about half my drabbles for [community profile] ficortreat to finish. I'm actually surprised to have already posted as many fills as I have, to be honest!

Well. Things finally seem like they're slowed down and back to normal now that it's been over a week since returning from my little trip.

In fact things feel downright slow. It's October! It's my favorite month! Except I haven't really been doing anything. I haven't even been watching as many spoopy movies as I usually would. Traditionally, during the month of October I watch one scary/occult/festive movie or tv show per day, and I definitely haven't been doing that. I typically hoard Halloween candy as well, but it's probably a good thing I haven't been doing that, ha.

I need to buckle down and figure out my story for [community profile] trickortreatex and I need to sit down and pluck at some of my drabbles for [community profile] ficortreat.

I only have a couple more visits to Disneyland, too, before my magic key expires. It's a wonderful place during Halloween time, and I'll get a taste of the Christmas season when I go in November. I haven't decided whether or not I'll renew again, because as expected, they keep jacking up the price. I also don't know what my living situation will be. If I have to move to another state, it wouldn't do me much good to have a Disneyland pass. u.u

While I was at the grocery store today, I impulse-bought a bottle of that limited edition Halloween Mountain Dew VooDoo mystery flavor stuff. As one knows if one has been here for any length of time, I can't resist a novel, limited edition soda. It absolutely kills me that while the flavor is very familiar to me, I can't put my finger on what it is. Anyone try it? Do you know?

While I hate summer with a passion, I have to say, mid-August is a pretty decent place to be.

Kids are going back to school. Stores and restaurants and other public spaces are thinning out because kids are going back to school, which means I don't have to avoid a lot of the spaces I'd like to be in because, to quote MCR, Teenagers scare the living shit outta me.

It also means Autumn is coming. Granted, since I live in Southern California, the very concept of seasons is pretty much moot. However, that doesn't mean that everybody won't be changing the decor, and that all manner of Autumn-related foods, drinks, and other goodies aren't going to start making their way onto store shelves. September is also when all the Halloween stuff starts appearing, which means it's the time when I start getting extra frisky.

I! Love! Halloween! I love costumes. I love the occult. I love spooky shit. I love passing out candy, kicking back all evening to watch scary movies (I do this thing where I watch a scary movie every single day in October - now that I'm on DW, I'll log it!), and I love the annual Halloween haunts that appear at Knotts, Six Flags, Universal Studios, ect.

Give me pumpkin everything. Give me bats and black cats and ghosties. Put Boo Berry and Count Chocula back on the cereal aisle! I love that every year someone is going to want to use a Ouija board, and cemeteries once more become a cool place to hang out.

But perhaps most of all? Halloween-themed fandom challenges. I am so excited for that, y'all. I used to participate all the time over on LJ, but I'm really excited to see what kind of exchanges and challenges will crop up here on DW around the Halloween season. I'm ready. Let's go. If you see one, you gotta tell me. That's the rule.
