Happy Thanksgiving, to those who celebrate!
Happy Thursday, to those who don't.
As a concept, I've always been kinda iffy. I like that it's a holiday about togetherness and eating a lot of food, but otherwise, I could take it or leave it. Learning that the tales we were fed in elementary school were all BS left me - and a lot of people, I'm sure - a little jaded. Besides, my extended family were all horrible people who were very hard to be around, so I've always had a love-hate relationship with the major holidays.
I will be alone again this year! Therefore, I reasoned that there is no reason to try and cook anything fancy or traditional (though I loved the turkey wellington I once whipped up!). So! I will be making Thanksgiving pizza. Your typical crust, gravy instead of sauce, a blend of different cheeses, and then of course your toppings. I'm going to cook mashed potatoes, stuffing and some deli turkey and use all of those as toppings for my pizza. It's gonna be pretty rad. I have also acquired cranberry ginger ale, a pecan pie, and I will assemble a platter of goodies I have bought for pre-meal snacking: a box of chocolates, those butter cookies in the blue tin, some chocolate peanut butter cookies, and chocolate covered Ritz crackers. Decadent, clearly. I also impulse bought a loaf of French bread with Italian herb, but I don't know what I'll do with it. I don't have a dip or a soup or anything. Just... slice it? And eat it with butter? Who knows! We will find out.
Hope you all have a great day, whatever you get up to!
