5. There is a time-travel device at your disposal. You can travel to any time in the past or future: where are you going to? asked by

I have thought about this a lot, because as some of you have found out by now, I overthink everything and end up taking memes way more seriously than they were intended. So, rambling under the cut!
I thought about this question two ways: what time period would I go back to, or what specific moment in time would I return to? If we're just talking general time periods, I would be interested in seeing all kinds of time periods including ancient civilizations and more recent decades with all their trends and phases. However, by now I realize that most times really sucked for women, and that if I visited, I would not want to stay long.
It's more about events for me, then. Being able to witness various moments in history! Practically, and on a much smaller scale, I can think of several moments in my life that I would love to be able to do over. Opportunities to act when I didn't, or to keep my mouth shut when I said something damaging. I know this would change my entire life, and that's terrifying. I don't want to visit the future, though. I'm scared of it.
I don't really mess with time travel, haha. I don't trust myself to be able to appear anywhere in history, or act in any sort of way, without screwing everything up. We have created too many fictional cautionary tales for me to think my hubris wouldn't be my downfall, or the downfall of society at large.
Bare minimum, I might go back to spend more time with loved ones I now know wouldn't be around much longer. Or try to make sure I score some winning lotto numbers.
Thanks for asking!
